What is Bepreve used for?

Bepreve is a prescription antihistamine eye drop, also known by the generic name bepotastine besilate. Bepreve is used to treat itchy eyes caused by allergic conjunctivitis, which occurs when the eyes become swollen as a reaction to various allergens. How does Bepreve work?

As a histamine receptor antagonist, Bepreve works by blocking histamine from being released, reducing histamine levels to relieve the symptoms of an allergic response. It should take about 10 to 15 minutes after applying the eye drops to notice symptoms improving. Bepreve should not be applied while wearing contact lenses.
