As a lincomycin antibiotic, Clindamycin works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial protein, thus slowing or stopping the growth of bacteria in the body. Clindamycin is effective at treating certain types of bacterial infections, including those affecting the lungs, skin, blood, female reproductive organs, and other internal organs. Clindamycin’s bacteriostatic effect stops bacteria from reproducing, but doesn’t necessarily kill bacteria.
